Hi to all this is a family watch that was bought brand new from a Rolex boutique in Athens-Greece in 1979 by my dad. It was kept in a box, unused until he gifted it to me in 2001. It was worn by me as an everyday watch until 2009 and then kept in a safe place until now! It has never being polished and I only serviced the movement a few months ago, in March 2025 without changing any parts. It was only taken apart oiled and put back together, and they removed a few little scratches from the acrylic glass.
The watch works beautifully, and it's in a very attractive vintage condition. The luminous dots have patina as you can see and the seconds hand has obvious signs of its long life Many air-kings of this period have this seconds dial appearance that I personally find very charming and I wouldn't change it.
The watch doesn’t come with box or papers. (They are hiding somewhere in my dad's home and I cant find them).
The watch was serviced by a very skilled independent watchmaker but was also checked at Rolex Service Center in order to decide if I would change any parts. In the end I decided not to.
It has passed a waterproof test of 6 BAR as you can see in the photos attached.
I also have one spare bracelet link that I forgot to include in the photos. The bracelet is full and of course all original.
Every aspect of the watch works beautifully, including the crown, bracelet, winding it etc.
It was well lived and loved.
