First Details of GRAW2

Developed by Red Storm and Ubisoft Paris, and has been in development

since Graw was launched. It will contain the following graphical updates

which has been concluded that it easily eclipses its predecessor in

terms of visuals. They include the following:

 

1.Dynamic Weather Conditions: Taking place in sandstorms to howling

rain, with subtle details such as after a rain storm the mission area

glistens with moisture and features standing pools of water on the

streets. As well as wind and weather simulation.

 

2. Object Translucency: Which allows players to see through surfaces

like leaves and fabrics under the right lighting circumstances.

 

3. God Rays: Also a technique that simulates the way light goes around a

surface that blocks light. God Rays allow the player to see the limits

of light, creating the hard edges rays of light often seen pouring

through cathedral windows.

 

4. Smoke Effects Techinques called Depth Sprite in which smoke particles

move over and around objects like an actual gas, elminating the

hardlines you see between clouds and surfaces you see in most games. The

smoke also reacts to light and wind.

 

Demos were shown that showed the dynamics of the smoke. Such as a

helicopter down draft that forced huge plumes of smoke away from the

landing. To an explosion forcing away a smoke cloud with the light of

the fire reflecting off the particles in the cloud in real time.

 

5. Improved particle effects that send debris flying in explosions and

chips exploding off walls when struck by a bullet.

 

-Graw 2 deals with the escalating turmoil just south of the US border.

 

-It all takes place over 72 hours

 

-It will have way more varied locations including fighting through the

mountains, forests, etc.

 

-Whats more the combat will be on both sides of the border, Mexico and

the US appearently.

 

-the first section of Graw2 will take place around the Mexican City of

Juarez, 2nd in a war torn urban Center, the final tasks players with

repelling a full fledged invasion of US soil for control over El Paso Texas.

 

-In another demo the smoke cloud was forced away from a sudden

explosion, and the light from the fire reflected off the particles in

the cloud in real time.

 

Also just a side note, he said in his opinion, it looked on par if not

better than GOW. O_O

Dead or Alive 5 in the Works

Creator Tomonobu Itagaki speaks out about new game.

 

Less than a year since Team Ninja released Dead or Alive 4 for Xbox 360, the game's enigmatic creator, Tomonobu Itagaki, has stated he's already thinking of new ideas for Dead or Alive 5.

 

Speaking at the DOA: 10th Anniversary Festa in Japan, Itagaki - who wore his trademark sunglasses for the entire event - answered questions from fans about his plans for a follow-up to Dead or Alive 4. Although he couldn't reveal any specific details, he told the packed hall he already had a few ideas in his head for a new title. Interestingly nothing was mentioned about Dead or Alive: Code Chronos, which is a prequel to the series featuring Ayane and Kasumi and is also slated for Xbox 360.

 

Even without mentioning a specific console for Dead or Alive 5, it's highly likely it will make its way to 360. The DOA series has become a mainstay for Microsoft's Xbox, with several versions appearing on both the original console and Xbox 360, joined by Dead or Alive: Xtreme 2 which bounces onto UK 360s on December 8.

CNN Money: Microsoft shares get lift from upgrade

Credit Suisse bumps up its rating of software giant to 'outperform,' citing a combination of developments beyond Vista and the new Zune player.

BANGALORE, INDIA (Reuters) -- Credit Suisse raised its rating on Microsoft Corp. to "outperform" from "neutral," saying the stock could appreciate nearly 20 percent from current levels due to the company's strengthening market position in digital entertainment, among other reasons.

Microsoft (up $0.49 to $29.89, Charts) shares were up 1.5 percent in late morning Nasdaq trade on the news.

TECHNOLOGY

 

The brokerage, which also raised the software maker's price target to $35 from $29, said the upgrade was not a call on the company's operating system Vista or portable media player Zune.

ειναι ευτυχισμενη, γιατι πλεον μπορει να συγκρινεται το 360 με πραγματικα δεδομενα, και οχι με οτι φαντασιωση ειχε ο καθενας μεσα στο κεφαλι του.

 

οι μεγαλοι οικονομικοι οργανισμοι παλι, φαινεται πως χαρηκανε και αυτοι, αφου με το που κυκλοφορησανε ps3 και wii, αναβαθμισανε την μετοχη της microsoft και λενε οτι περιμενουν μεχρι και +20% διοτι η εταιρεια ισχυροποιησε τη θεση της στο "digital entertainment" , ξεκαθαριζοντας οτι δεν αναφερονται ουτε στα vista ουτε στο zune. ;)

If you're a fan of the Rainbow Six series (or even if you're not), Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas is one of the must-have games on the Xbox 360. Microsoft AU Replies to Sony Interview

Takes issue with certain comments.

 

 

Australia, November 20, 2006 - We recently ran a couple of interviews with both Sony and Microsoft, regarding each company's upcoming plans for Christmas, and how the delayed launch of PS3 factored into these. The Microsoft interview barely touched on its upcoming competitor, the PS3. However, our interview with Sony had a rather different tone, with plenty of comments about the Xbox 360.

 

After the Sony interview went live, we were promptly contacted by Microsoft's PR agency, who felt it needed to point out what it says are several inaccuracies in the Sony interview. Their reply is as follows, and was written by "a spokesperson on behalf of Xbox."

 

We'd like to make it clear that IGN AU isn't taking sides in this issue. As gamers first and foremost, we're just happy that competition is driving our beloved industry onwards and upwards. Anyway, on to the response - please note that bolded comments are from the original Sony interview.

 

 

 

"In response to Michael Ephraim's comments on Friday's IGN, we would like to set the facts straight on a few things:

 

'If you look at GfK, no matter how much they go out and brag about it, the sales have flattened... there has been a downwards spiral on Xbox... if you track GfK for the last two or three months it's progressively been going downwards.'

 

These broad generalizations are simply untrue. Xbox sales continue to soar, as more and more Australian gamers jump into the future with next generation gaming. The Gfk data continues to show thriving revenue, and an attach rate of over four games per console.

 

In addition to this, the comparative sales figures quoted in the IGN interview, conveniently didn't take in the same week, essentially comparing apples with oranges. Of course, by any standards, reaching 100,000 console sales in seven months could never be considered a downward turn.

 

'Xbox 360 is going to have a much bigger challenge to sell their next 100,000 than the first 100,000 they sold'

 

Looking at our pipeline of first party games such as Gears of War, Forza 2, Mass Effect and Fable 2, the incredible third-party support from every major games publisher, amazing accessories including the HD DVD Player, Wireless Wheel and Live Vision Camera, not to mention Xbox Live, we are confident that our sales momentum will continue.

 

'In Europe they're selling about 25,000 units a week'

 

Perhaps this is hopeful speculation from Sony, but no, while market sensitive, this figure is grossly incorrect.

 

'PS2 sales and Xbox 360 install base'

 

These are two completely different products - you simply cannot compare Xbox 360 install base to PS2. You are looking at two dissimilar products, at vastly different stages in their lifecycle. The PS2 is a closeout item at a clearance price.

 

'We think their (Microsoft's) offering at seven, eight hundred dollars is extremely steep'

 

With a rumoured Australian retail price of almost a thousand dollars for their next console this is almost laughable. Starting from just AU$499 we believe the Xbox 360 is the best-value console of the next generation. Plus with our recently announced HD DVD player, you can get both for just under RRP AU$750. More importantly, we aren't imposing HD functionality into customer's homes. If that's what you're into great. If not, no problem, you still have a great gaming product - which has the future capability of downloading high def films anyway! Not to mention the capability to upscale your existing DVD collection. Win, win.

 

'the studio support, all (of them) are supporting Blu-Ray, and I think one or two are supporting both formats.'

 

Universal Pictures, one of the largest film companies in the world, is only supporting HD DVD. So if you want to watch high definition films such as King Kong, Jurassic Park, The Bourne Supremacy, Serenity or Battlestar Galactica the TV series, you will not be able to do so on your PS3. Fact.

 

Plus, Warner Bros, New Line Cinema, Paramount, The Weinstein Company, HBO and the BBC are supporting both formats.

 

'We have been true to the consumer unlike our competitor'

 

When the figures are all said and done, it's actually the customer comment that we want to address the most. With Xbox 360, customer feedback was paramount. It formed the heart of our product and we continue to see improvements based on this. For example we have just up-scaled to 1080p because our customers demanded it. Our customers come first. We've demonstrated that from day one.

 

'Xbox shortages, you could walk into a store and find one…..'

 

Exactly, we wanted to ensure that every Australian gamer who wanted to purchase an Xbox 360 could get one. We believe this approach helped us achieve a history making 100,000 consoles in a mere seven months.

Όσο δεν έχει παιχνίδια της προκοπής και όσο δεν παίζει backups, το καβουρδιστήρι της Sony θα πάει άπατο. Μόνο οι πιστοί θα το αγοράσουν, αυτοί για τους οποιους ο Gates έλεγε ότι "και τούβλα να πουλήσει η Sony, αυτοί θα πάνε να τα αγοράσουν".
