Band of Bugs Graces Us This Week!

 

I am personally beside myself with glee. It's official and I can finally talk about it.

 

Band of Bugs is coming, this Wednesday (6/20/2007) and will be available for 800 pts.

Game Features:

 

* Choose to play through a story-based campaign, stand-alone missions or skirmishes

o Story-based campaign: Action and adventure in a single-player campaign story. Follow the adventures of young Maal as he leads an elite team of bug warriors to protect the kingdom from evil insect enemies.

o Stand-alone missions: Try your hand at one of these unique single-level scenarios. These short battles include a background story, unique events and custom goals.

o Skirmish: Test your skills on a variety of individual maps, including custom maps designed by the player with the in-game editor. Select a game type (Elimination, Capture, or Escape) and choose to control any party in the battle to demonstrate your superior tactical skill.

* Four unique multiplayer modes for up to 4 players either locally or over Xbox LIVE, including:

o Elimination: The first team to lose all the bugs in one party loses the battle

o Capture: Capture (or defend) a strong point

o Escape: Reach an escape point, or stop the enemy from reaching it

* Mission: A unique scenario with custom story, events, and goals

* Challenge friends to Spider Hunter, a more relaxed game that allows up to 8 people to join and leave on the fly!

* Use the gamesʼ built-in level editor to design your own custom scenarios for play against others over Xbox LIVE (a first for an Xbox LIVE Arcade game!)

* Xbox LIVE Vision camera support in all Xbox LIVE multiplayer modes

Microsoft Paid $50m Advance for GTA IV Content

 

Microsoft paid a reported $50 million advance to secure exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content for Xbox 360. Next-Gen spoke with Microsoft and analyst Michael Pachter about the deal.

Microsoftʼs ʽForza Motorsport 2ʼ retains pole position in the All Formats chart for a second week with ʽTomb Raider: Anniversaryʼ and ʽPirates of the Caribbean: At Worldʼs Endʼ both stuck at Nos 2 and 3 respectively with only 183 sales separating them.

Sales of ʽForza Motorsport 2ʼ are down 34% on its launch week, but competitor ʽColin McRae: Dirtʼ from Codemasters cannot beat it, debuting at No4 and selling just over half of Forzaʼs total on Xbox 360 this week. Nintendo remain the largest represented company in the All Formats Top 10 with 3 titles – ʽWii Playʼ holding on to No5, ʽDr Kawashimaʼs Brain Trainingʼ jumping from No8 to No6, and ʽMario Strikers Charged Footballʼ slipping 3 places to No9. There is only one other new release to make the All Formats Top 40 – Take 2ʼs multi-format ʽFantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surferʼ entering at No8 behind another comic book film tie-in ʽSpider-Man 3ʼ, dropping this week from No4 to No7.

 

Competitive pricing pushes EAʼs ʽMedal of Honor: Vanguardʼ back into the Top 40 at No18, while ʽThe History Channel: Great Battles of Romeʼ from Black Bean manages to break into the Top 40 in its second week, at No34.

Team Fortress 2 Won't Feature PC-Xbox 360 Interplay

A couple of months ago, we reported that cross-platform multiplayer interaction for Team Fortress 2 was achieved at Valveʼs offices and the developer confirmed that interplay between the PC and Xbox 360 version of the game was “technically done.”

 

Team Fortress 2, which is included in the mega Half-Life 2 combo titled "The Orange Box," is an all-new version of Team Fortress, the legendary title that spawned team based multiplayer action games.

 

Unfortunately, Valveʼs Doug Lombardi, who revealed that such a cross-platform multiplayer between PC and Xbox 360 was possible, has now confirmed that it wonʼt make it into the final game. Shacknews got a chance to preview the entire Orange Box package and got word about cross-platform interoperability being discarded:

 

In Valve's offices, team members regularly play cross-platform multiplayer games, but the studio's Doug Lombardi noted emphatically that such functionality will not appear in the final versions. He explained that it introduces more problems than it is worth, and if Valve ever decides to go that route it would be in a game designed for it from the start.

Why Forza 2 Is The Most Accessible Driving Sim Ever

 

In an interesting GWN article, the crew pinpoint the reasons as to why Turn 10's Forza 2, is perhaps, the most realistic driving-sim ever. They come to the conclusion that instead of appealing only to a hardcore crowd, Turn 10 have created a game that is easily accessible to non-gamers, with cars that actually feel like you're driving the real thing. Not that the game's too easy, not at all, if you turn the driving aids off, GWN thinks that the game will even keep hardcore gamers happy for months on end.

High Def Guru - How HD DVD Can Survive

 

After the news of Blockbuster exclusively backing Blu-ray, many insiders believe that it could spell a lot of trouble for rival format, HD DVD. So just how does Microsoft and Universal fight their way out of this predicament? Well, Phillip Swann, president of TVPredictions.com, has offered some advice. He suggests that MS should go ahead and make a similar deal with another video retailer, and to try persuading one of the four major Hollywood studios that support Blu-ray exclusively to back HD DVD. He also suggests lowering the price of the entry-level Toshiba HD DVD player to $99, otherwise, in his opinion, HD DVD will be a dead duck in the water. WHat do you guys think?

Microsoft sues Immersion for contract breach

 

Well well, it looks as if 'rumble specialists' Immersion are about to get a taste of their own medicine as Microsoft is preparing to sue the company based on infringement of certain business and IP licensing arrangements.

"We entered into a binding licensing agreement with Immersion and are seeking to have that agreement honored," Microsoft Associate General Counsel Steve Aeschbacher said in a statement. "Microsoft licenses technology both in and out and relies on these agreements to be honored and enforced. Our request to the court is that all companies and industry partners should play by the same rules and that the binding agreement we signed with Immersion be honored."

Πληρωσαν και οι δυο αδρα μονο που απο οτι φαινεται η Immersion δεν ειχε δει τη φακα...

Προφανως θα γινει το κλασικο...το ποσο που ζηταει τωρα η MS απο την Immersion θα ειναι τεραστιο,η MS με τη συνηθη πολιτικη καρχαρια θα αγορασει κοψοχρονια την Immersion και η Sony θα πληρωνει εις αει την MS για το rumble...

Sensible World Of Soccer Release Imminent

 

If you're a fan of Codemasters' Sensible Soccer series, here's some good news. The German USK site has updated their boards and have now given the highly anticipated, Sensible World of Soccer, an 'All Ages' rating which seems to suggest that the release of the cool footie game should finally hit the Xbox Live Marketplace in a few weeks time.
