New Dragon Age to be released on consoles, handhelds and PC

 

 

EA’s confirmed in its Q3 FY10 results the recently announced Dragon Age title due in Q4 FY11 (January 1 through March 31, 2011) will be coming to handhelds as well as PC and consoles.

 

When it was released in 2009, Dragon Age: Origins was released on PS3, 360 and PC.

 

BioWare’s only mentioned Dragon Age 2 only once, which was from co-founder Greg Zeschuck, saying how “super hot” it’ll look graphically:

 

“I think one of the key things we’re working on in Dragon Age 2 is the technology,” he told Joystiq. “I can confirm that we’re doing a lot of work on the Dragon Age engine, and doing a lot of stuff to pump it — to make it visually super hot.”

 

“I think the overall visual style we’re going to continue to evolve in Dragon Age,” he added. “People are going to see some cool... I can’t really say too much, but I think Dragon Age as a world is interesting. It’s a timeline, and you can go anywhere.”

Dragon Age 2 Already Dated?

BioWare teases release date in Awakening expansion

 

BioWare has teased a new released date for what we can only assume is the next complete Dragon Age sequel. A pamphlet found inside all retail copies of Dragon Age: Origins -- Awakening, posted below, set the release for Feburary 1, 2011.

 

This matches up with Electronic Arts' fiscal 2011 lineup of titles, which said a new Dragon Age game is shipping in the company's 4th quarter beginning on January 1, 2011 and ending on March 31.

 

IGN has contacted BioWare and EA for additional information. We'll update this post if we hear back.

Dragon Age 2 first details, first concept art, first trailer at gamescom

 

It’s a good day for BioWare fans indeed: GI’s just shown off Dragon Age 2 as the cover for its next issue and EA has confirmed that the RPG sequel’s first trailer will be shown at the publisher’s gamescom press conference on August 17.

 

First concept art has been released, as you can see below.

 

GI mentioned that the game takes place in “a different part of the world” of Ferelden, features a new lead character and “a ton of surprising improvements that will shed even more light on the lore of the Dragon Age universe.”

 

The details were backed up by the following from the game’s official site, giving first bits on plot and confirming a new visual style:

Dragon Age 2 confirmed for March 2011 release on PC, 360 and PS3

 

BioWare has confirmed that Dragon Age 2 will release in March 2011.

 

The sequel charts the rise to power of Hawke, a survivor of the Blight.

 

Platforms are now confirmed as 360, PS3 and PC.

Dragon Age II: First Screenshots

 

These exclusive hi-res screens of Dragon Age II showcase the new artistic direction for the game, depicting the new designs for darkspawn Hurlocks and Ogres. The team at BioWare is also aware that many gamers weren't satisfied with the graphical quality in Origins; Dragon Age II not only looks better, but sports a new artistic direction that gives the world of Thedas a more distinct visual identity.
