RawRecovery - File Types

 

During a RawRecovery scan the tool is searching for specific file signatures. The tool has over 200 file signatures, which can be selected for the scan. The File Types dialog will list all file signatures in the tool’s database. The RawRecovery tool default is to scan using all file signatures. If you wish to customize your recovery and do not wish to scan using all file signatures, you can select file signatures individually for the scan.

 

You may add custom signatures by selecting the Add button. The Add File Signature dialog has fields for signature, offset, description, and extension. The signature and offset fields require you to enter data in hexadecimal format.

 

Custom signatures can be adjusted or changed by highlighting the signature in the list and selecting the edit button. You cannot edit or remove non-customized signatures in the file list. At least one file signature must be selected to exit the File Types dialog.
