What is the arrival procedure to Greece for a permanent resident if he/she is tested as covid positive (1 day ago)?

Sorry I can't speak Greek. (trying to learn)
Me and my wife have permanent residency in Greece. We are actually Turkish.

My question is:

"What is the arrival procedure to Greece for a permanent resident if her/his PCR test is covid positive?"

Why I am asking this?

We have the chance to get vaccinated for covid in Turkey. (sinovac)
We already got our first dose of vaccine 25 days ago.
Soon we will go to Turkey by car for the second dose, vaccination will be near border.
And we will return to Greece on the same day by car.

But,I heard that a person may test positive after his/her first shot of the vaccine as he/she develops antigens. (or may even test as false positive)
So after taking our vaccine shots ,when coming back To Greece from Turkey, if our PCR test results return positive.
What are the arrival conditions for a permanent resident in a situation like that?

We have 2 cats, because of that we have to get back to Greece as soon as possible.
We have nobody to look after them.

I checked Greece site https://travel.gov.gr for PLF etc.
In website it strictly says that to be able to enter country

  1. you have to give a negative test result or

  2. your vaccination is completed and certified at least 14 days ago or

  3. you have to be tested positive at least 2-6 months before your entrance (and you can certify that)

For a situation like ours if our PCR tests return negative there seems no problem.(like in our first vaccine shot)
But there is a great possibility that our tests may return positive as we got the first shot already.

So in a condition like that neither of the above 3 conditions are met for us.

What is the arrival procedure for a permanent resident in a situation like that ? (Have anybody experienced anything similar )

Is your entrance rejected and you have to wait at least 14 days after vaccination completed?

or is there some kind of self isolation procedure or hotel isolation procedure?

What if I have children or an elderly in need of care in Greece and I don't have anybody to look after that long period of time for example?

Is the procedure same for also Greek citizens ?

You are wrong about testing positive from the vaccination .I had multiple tests after both my jabs and not one was positive. Also the doctors will tell you the same. But you can not use the vaccination to enter Greece,it must be 14 days after your last vaccination for you to use the certificate.

You must have a negative pcr test. You will eventually  know before you cross the borders.

Also they will do a rapid test when you cross borders ,i think its not only for flights.Thats when they send you to isolation .

Take the test and you will be fine.Dont worry.

As your vaccination is not complete you will have to provide a negative test result upon arrival.

To clarify, the PCR test will come back positive only if you are infected. The presence of antibodies due to the vaccine (or due to past ilness) does not influence the PCR result. The PCR test relies on live virus genetic material to give a positive result. Don't confuse it with the antibody test.

I think I have wrong information about this thx for the info.
But as I read from some articles even PCR can sometimes fail (related with the exposure and test time) like there are many false positive or negative cases.

And believe me if we didn't have cats in Greece I won't be asking so much question about a bad case scenario.

Actually if everything goes well;

In a good scenario we have no problem and come back with negative tests. (as we didnt have any problem on our trip for first dose vaccination )

But my question still persists, because I can't find any information online about this;

Lets say we lived the bad scenario and one of us tested positive (PCR)

What happens in that case for a permanent resident or for a Greek citizen , how is the procedure while returning to Greece?

(Is it the same as in https://travel.gov.gr/ for everybody including Greek citizens and permanent residents?)

Do they just reject your entrance or do they let you in Greece, and force self isolation or hotel isolation. (14 days)

It doesn't make sense to me to reject your own citizen for testing positive , I think most of the countries are letting their citizens in and put them in hotels/dormitories for 14 days isolation.

Give samples for the PCR test a few hours before going in for vaccination, get the vaccine and then cross the border as soon as you get the negative results from the test.

We did like that at first time. The strange part is that we got PCR from Greece to enter Turkey (because Turkey also requested) and on the same day (vaccination day) we get a second PCR from Turkey to enter Greece again (because Greece requested). Time between two PCR tests were like 24-36 hours or so. This is ridiculous. (this is just bad bureaucracy)

But I think now Turkey accepts rapid test as of today. Greece still ask for PCR.

At any case I would suggest to have a plan B for the cats. You are about to cross borders, two times, during a pandemic that has been opening and closing access to various countries unexpectedly.

Alternatively, don't go together but one person at a time for the second shot.

Yes cats are actually our only concern :( Going at different times is a good idea but I think we have fixed appointment date.

Btw here are our cats :)

They are lovely. I hope all goes well and you won't need it, but if a neighbor/friend/co-worker isn't willing to help you, this may be a solution:  https://www.keeppet.gr/

Greece asks for negative PCR for the last 72 hours plus the PLF, so probably you need one PCR if the whole procedure takes less than 72 hours. If tested positive and have residense permit then you self isolate at home for 14 days , there are no special hotels any more. All this you can ask in the borders befor you pass Kipous.

Last time (on our first dose trip) Turkey asked for PCR from Greece and Greece asked for PCR from Turkey when we were returning even though we already had PCR from Greece itself that was done in 72 hours time (actually it was like in 36 hours). (we went for vaccination to Turkey and returned on the same day) :(

Maybe I'm just overthinking if everything goes well (like in our first dose trip) there is nothing to worry about.
As I stated our only concern is the cats.

Do you know any official document or government website states that ? (like our own citizens are subject to 14 day self isolation if tested positive when returning back to Greece)

Because general consensus of people is like that "Greece can even reject its own citizens entry if tested positive" (I also asked a similar question in reddit Greece, most of the responses were like that) (Actually it doesn't make sense to me but https://travel.gov.gr/ doesn't talk about any exception for Greek citizens or permanent residents but I may be wrong)

Why don't you do the PCR test before you get the vaccine shot?

At our first dose vaccination trip we did like that and we had no problem.

My question was for a worst case scenario of testing positive when returning from second dose vaccination.

But as a forum member stated here if vaccination has no effect on PCR test we probably won't have any problem at all.

Thx for all the answers, and sorry for writing in english.

No Greece does not forbid people coming in if they test positive ,if you test positive you will already be on Greek soil ,just take the test when you enter the Turkish territory ,get the jab,get the results and come back.

You are making so many wrong assumptions.Dont worry so much.

Unfortunatlly they can do it.

Recent case, a person (greek citizen) with positive PCR had to cross land border from Turkey to Greece and was stopped. Only way for that person to pass was to rent a private ambulance service to take him from border to his home without any stops.

If this changed in the last couple of weeks i dont know.

Wait,he had a positive pcr  test prior crossing the border or he was tested positive at the random check?Because i am talking about the random check.
