First Look At Call of Duty: Black Ops

 

USA Today's Game Hunters take a first look at the next game in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops. They actually have three separate articles up:

Picking through the articles, here are a few bits 'n pieces.

• Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia has stated that although they are moving Black Ops to the cold war, they will stay true to the Call of Duty ethos.
  
• New feature: alternate ammo that can be changed on the fly.
  
• One level is called "WMD" and is set in 1968, during the height of the Cold War.
  
• Beyond the single-player story, the game will have a cooperative mode for two to four players and an online multiplayer mode.
  
• Research for the game included consultations with Maj. John Plaster, a veteran of the Studies and Observations Group (SOG), a multi-force black operations unit led by the Central Intelligence Agency during the Vietnam War.
  
• Also adding intel was Sonny Puzikas, a former Soviet special forces operative. "He has come into studio as well, and offered his advice and expertise on how Soviet special forces trained, the weaponry they used and what it was like to be in that force.
  
• Treyarch uses motion-capture technology employed by James Cameron in Avatar. "Instead of individual motion-capture, voice-overs and then facial animations, we actually capture the performances of the actors," including more realistic facial muscle movement, Lamia says.

CoD: Black Ops dedicated servers confirmed

 

Call of Duty: Black Ops will be getting dedicated servers, according to studio head Mark Lamia.

 

When asked whether the popular feature would be present in Black Ops in the new issue of PC Zone, Lamia replied, "I think dedicated servers are excellent. I don't see any reason not to see them unless... well, I just don't see any reason not to."

 

"It seems people like them and we're excited about what we're doing right now."

 

Lamia showed his appreciation of how much dedicated servers meant to a lot of PC gamers:

 

"We do work very hard to reconcile the desire to manipulate and modify those dedicated servers with offering them the persistent experience and benefits that the console system provides."

 

"We're working very hard to marry those two things, so people can run dedicated servers and also participate in the communal experience the console players get to have, given they're all on first-party servers."

Ας κάνουν ο,τι θέλουν αλλά μην παραμελησουν το SP ... Αν και από ό,τι λέει αυτός ο τύπος μάλλον δε θα το κάνουν

To SP δεν μας λέει (σχεδόν) τίποτα φίλε μου.

Το MP πρέπει να προσπαθήσουν να φτάσει του BC2.

 

Δηλαδή να αλλάξει προσανατολισμό, και από arcade να γίνει simulator..

Το πουλάκι πέταξε μαγκάκια και πίσω δεν γυρίζει. Ας προσέχατε στο MW2, γιατί όπως είπε ένας γνωστός συμφοφουρίτης... ο PC Gamer ΔΕΝ ΞΕΧΝΑΕΙ.-
