Bohemia Interactive announced today the third part of their critically acclaimed military tactical sim FPS franchise, ArmA. ArmA III will feature an open-ended & story-driven campaign mode, physical simulation & improved animations that will take advantage of Nvidia’s PhysX effects, rich & authentic environment, customizable Soldier Load. You can view the first nine screenshots after the jump.

 

Moreover, the game will support online cooperative & competitive scenarios, as well as dedicated servers for both Windows and Linux. And as with ArmA II, the game will be completely extensible & moddable. This basically means that players will be able to design & create countless customizable scenarios using the intuitive & easy-to-use mission editor.

 

Players will take the role of Cpt. Scott Miller. Europe has become the last stand for the battered NATO forces. In the hope of seizing what seems to be a well-guarded military secret, Operation Magnitude is launched. You are a part of a small group of Special Forces and Researchers that are sent to a Mediterranean island behind enemy lines. Everything goes to hell however and the mission is compromised, leaving you washed ashore upon the hostile island.

 

Bohemia Interactive´s CEO, Marek Spanel said:

Last but not least, the game will be showcased in this year’s E3.

My take: Mediterranean, you say. Real-world data, you say. I am become Evan Lahti, GLOBE SLEUTH. We know that Arma 2′s biggest map is Chernarus, weighing in at 225 km² of area. It’s safe to assume that whatever isle Arma 3 uses as its sandbox, it’ll be near that size. That rules out Sardinia (24,090 km²) and Corsica (8,680 km²) off the coast of Italy, but makes Malta and the isles of Greece look like our probable candidates. Hmm.

να βάλουμε τρις κάρτες... μια για τα φωτάκια, μια για τα PhysXZ και μια για το υπόλοιπο γραφικό

To arma είναι τόσο über ρε που τα γραφικά του θα 'ναι καλύτερα κι απ'της πραγματικότητας.
