2.1. How did you find out how NVidia cards work then?

 

Basically, we store the state of the card before and after running a simplistic OpenGL program. After that we diff the states in order to find out, what was sent to the card. See our REnouveau documentation for further information.

Έτσι από περιέργεια ... ποιος ο λόγος να φτιαχτεί open sourse nvidia driver αφού ο οδηγός της εταιρείας δουλεύει μια χαρά. Μήπως δεν έχουν κάτι καλύτερο να κάνουν τα παιδιά....

 

Όχι τίποτα άλλο, αλλά με τις ΑΤΙ και τον open source έφτασε καλοκαίρι 2007 για να υποστηρίξει π.χ tv-out και αυτό ακόμα και σήμερα είναι της κακιάς ώρας. Της nvidia είναι πολύ ανώτερο.

What is the Open Source Interoperability Initiative?

The Open Source Interoperability Initiative exists to foster more open engagement between Microsoft and open source communities. Promises, Promises from Microsoft. Again.

Nobody is buying it. Well. Employees, maybe. Microsoft is once again promising interoperability and adherence to standards, but its own version of each. Interoperability that is safe only for noncommercial software excludes Microsoft's number one competitor, Linux. It is noncommercial and commercial, depending on who is using it. So, right there it tells you that this is a promise to do nothing that matters. Microsoft is currently being investigated by the EU Commission regarding the same two issues, interoperability and its behavior pushing MSOOXML as a "standard". This is a promise to remain incompatible with the GPL, as far as I can make out.
