Ναι οντως.. "ετυχε"!! ΛΟΛ

τα βρηκαν λιγο σκουρα τα τελευταια χρονια με τα vista και τα 7(που πιστευω δε θα πιασουν),ειδαν οτι και το ελευθερο λογισμικο χρησιμοποιειται ολο και περισσοτερο και ψαχνουν ατομα και καλα για marketing!!!

Πώς δε θα πιάσουν, εδώ έχουν πείσει το κόσμο (aka συμφωνήσει/πληρώσει κατασκευαστές) να βάζει στα netbook windows.

OpenStreetMap Founder Steve Coast has announced that the OpenStreetMap (OSM) Project now has more than 200,000 registered users. The project, originally started in August of 2004, has become increasingly popular in recent months. The new milestone comes less than ten months after the project reached 100,000 registered users back in March of 2009. OpenStreetMap is an open source project, run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, that builds free online maps, not based on any copyright or licensed map data.

Blu-Ray Comes to Linux, Finally!

For the Linux fans out there, today is a great day! Up until now, blu-ray playback support in Linux has been very complicated and quite an aggravating experience. First you would have to hope you had the right BD-ROM drive and that there was a hacked firmware for you to flash it with. Then you had to hope the correct AACS keys were out on the interwebs for the blu-ray disc you wanted to watch. Once you had the right drive and the right keys, you had to dump the entire blu-ray disc to your hard drive and play it from there.

 

Well the guys over at the MakeMKV project just made this process a whole lot simpler! It is now actually feasible to play blu-ray movies in Linux. This is still a far shot from proper native support for blu-ray playback, but it is a nice workaround that is easy enough for any home user to get working. The way it works, basically, is that the newly released MakeMKV 1.4.10 now offers the ability to stream files or discs across your home theater network and any media player capable of playing a network stream can pick this up. So without going to much further, let’s get started on this how to guide.

Lenovo shows off Skylight

Lenovo has announced the Skylight sub-notebook which uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip, runs Linux rather than Windows and will sell for around $499 (£308) when it goes on sale in April.

 

Using the ARM chip architecture, Lenovo's Linux device represents a significant move away form the common Intel/Microsoft Windows model for computers.

Jan 3, 2010 - UPup Made with Woof 2010-0103 with GLX/DRI is shared by playdayz.

 

Forum member playdayz shares his stable uPup based on Ubuntu Karmic.

 

This uPup 4.53 was made with the Woof that was uploaded by BarryK on JAN 03 2010. It is basically a default build of Karmic Puppy from the latest version of Woof posted by Barry, with two exceptions: 1) the GLX/DRI video driver files have been included and enabled; 2) a very few extra files have been added.

 

Ideally uPup20091120 will correctly install your video card and also install the glx/dri files. That can be checked by Menu -> System -> System status and config -> Hardinfo -> Display and scroll down to see that glx/dri are enabled.

 

Download the upup-453.ISO 135 MB with md5sum = d5564f11e8e97e1b461919b640d303b0

Advantages of uPup: uPup Karmic has glibc 2.10 which allows it to run SRWare Iron 4.0.227 and presumably other cutting edge programs; no other puplet currently has a glbc > 2.8. Firefox 3.6b6pre and Seamonkey 2 run nicely.. Flashplayer 10 also seems to work without crashing .. Even the newest Flashplayer 10.0.42 runs nicely as does Flashplayer 10.1pre..
