Dear eBay Customer Service,

I am writing to request a refund for VAT that I was double-charged on my recent order, number <αριθμός παραγγελίας>.

According to my order summary, I was charged and paid VAT of US $17.46 directly to eBay when I completed the purchase. However, when the package arrived in Greece, the local postal service (ELTA) and customs charged me VAT of €9.00 again, for the same item.

I have attached two receipts to this email as proof:

1. A screenshot of my eBay order, which clearly shows the "VAT US $17.46"* charge.

2. A photo of the customs/postal service receipt from ELTA, showing the second VAT charge of €9.00 + €7.50 handling fees

Your system's statement that "import duties were not prepaid" is incorrect, as my receipt from eBay shows that I paid VAT to you. I believe this double charge is due to an error in the IOSS (Import One-Stop Shop) system, which failed to correctly transmit the VAT prepayment information to the Greek customs office.

I am not seeking a refund for the carrier's handling fee (€7.50), but for the VAT I originally paid to eBay.

I kindly request that you review my case and refund the original VAT amount of US $17.46 to my account.

Εγώ είχα πληρώσει αυτά:

Shipping US $28.73

VAT* US $17.46

Order total US $90.19

Πολύ σωστά απάντησε ο φίλος@Nabuko πιο πάνω, κανε αυτό + φωτογραφία από το κίτρινο χαρτί που κόλλησε το τελωνείο στο δέμα που γράφω πιο κάτω.

Απαντάω κυρίως για να σου λύσω την πιθανή απορία σχετικά με τη χρέωση στο eBay των $17.46, ενώ στην Ελλάδα πλήρωσες 9€. Το ποσό των $17.46 αφορά τον ΦΠΑ για το προϊόν και για τα μεταφορικά. Εφόσον χρεώθηκες εκ νέου στην Ελλάδα το ποσό των 9€ (ΦΠΑ του προϊόντος), αυτό το ποσό θα σου επιστραφεί.

The taxes were pre-paid through eBay, so I am sorry to see this happened to you. It looks like the carrier was not properly notified of the pre-paid tax when the item was forwarded internationally. Rest assured though, you are covered by eBay. I want to assure you that I have sent a request to get the additional charges you paid refunded to you. I see that you were charged more for the import taxes through eBay than the carrier required. Because of this, we have refunded the original import taxes you paid through eBay at checkout. Total refund amount will be 10.56 USD. This usually takes 3-5 business days. 

Please note, this refund is for additional taxes only. Any import duties, customs fees, or carrier processing fees are necessary and required for delivery of order as these were not pre-paid through eBay at checkout. You can verify this by checking your Order Details in your Purchase History.
