Call Of Duty 5 Announced. Still Modern Warfare

Description

Despite widespread rumors that the next Call Of Duty will head back to its WWII origins, Activision confirmed that Call Of Duty 5 is in fact underway and that it will keep its healthy "modern warfare" trend.

 

"For Call of Duty, we'll bring the intensity of the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title to yet a new military theater, to engage our significantly larger user based, which nearly doubled last year as new users came into the franchise", said Activision CEO Mike Griffith.

 

"We'll launch on all four platforms we participated on in fiscal 2008 plus we will launch on the PS2 and the Wii. We'll drive category sales of downloadable maps and enhanced Call of Duty 4 retail SKUs."

 

Call of Duty 5 will be available before April 2009 on the PC, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS.

FarCry--> φιλε δεν μιλάμε για τα εννιαβολα αλλά για το μονοβολο όπου έχει μόνο μια σφαίρα και προορίζετε αποκλιστικα για αγριογούρουνα.

Call of Duty 5 will be revealed in “mid-to-late” June

 

Videogaming247 has learned that Activision is about to reveal Call of Duty 5.

 

The gameʼs first media release will take place within two weeks.

 

“The revealʼs scheduled for mid-to-late June,” said a source. We werenʼt told what the first look would consist of, although details and screens are a safe bet.

 

Call of Duty 5 is being developed by Treyarch, not Infinity Ward, the creating studio behind shooter meta-smash Call of Duty 4.

 

The game is believed to be set back in World War II, not in CoD4ʼs contemporary theatre.

 

We contacted Activision for comment this morning but they hadnʼt replied at the time of writing.

There will be co-op for the first time in a Call of Duty. Also there will be vehicles and squad-based elements to the multiplayer. Formats: PC, PS3, 360 and Wii. The Wii version is being worked on by a separate team within Treyarch. (The mag) reckons itʼll be a much closer comparison between the next-gen and Wii versions than any other Wii game on the market.

PlayTM magazine also stats that Call of Duty 5 is set in the Pacific part of WWII.

 

The subs issue of this monthʼs gamesTM has revealed a wealth of information on the now-announced Call of Duty: World at War, the final name for Treyarchʼs Call of Duty 5.

 

From VG247 reader evilashchris, reading from the UK mag: “Right, apparently itʼs going to be grittier, as gritty as ANY game out there to quote. The enemy will be scarier and use new tactics.

 

“There will be co-op for the first time in a Call of Duty. Also there will be vehicles and squad-based elements to the multiplayer. Formats: PC, PS3, 360 and Wii. The Wii version is being worked on by a separate team within Treyarch. [The mag] reckons itʼll be a much closer comparison between the next-gen and Wii versions than any other Wii game on the market.

 

“Jeez, they have the CoD4 engine running on the Wii apparently. They are using [the CoD4 engine] for all the next-gen ones too. The Wii Zapper will be supported.

 

“Also, this is how gritty it is: ʽThe opening scene of the first level we are shown is a Japanese commander stubbing a cigarette out in the eye of a prisoner before slitting his throat - the blood splatters and dribbles down the side of the tent you are being held in. He turns towards you to deal out the same treatment but help arrives just in time. Cue a daring level-long escape.ʼ”

 

As is now known, the game will be set in the Pacific theatre of World War II.

It looks great in motion.

 

It's using "2nd-gen" COD4 engine.

 

Multiplayer is the same engine, together with Perks (optimised for WW2 setting), Xp points and everything else.

 

There are FLAMETHROWERS, and they look bloody fantastic in motion. Graphic-whores will be amased when they see that fire is actually spreading from trees to grass (or vice versa) depending of the wind.

 

Graphics are COD4 on amphetamine - lightning is God-damn fantastic.

 

Sound is awsome.

 

Co-op online will be amazing ans it looks great in motion too.

 

Game is shipping this fall, comfirmed - they've already have the date but they still can't communicate it. From what I've seen, single player looks pretty-much finished.

 

You'll love film-sequnces between chapters - they're done in "Kingdom" movie way, everybody who remember opening sequence from the movie will have the idea.

 

In total - Treyarch guys did an amazing job, and they can surely hope that Call of Duty: World of War will be a great beggining of the new franchise. GOTY pretty much confirmed.

 

Oh, and one more detail:

 

Besides Pacific, game has another setting, just like COD4 has 2 settings - 2nd is Mother Russia, with story around Russain solider(s) in their way from Stalingrad to Berlin.

Call of Duty: World at War - first details in OXM

 

The first details of Call of Duty: World at War have been revealed, plucked straight from the pages of Xbox 360: The Official Magazine (#35), which is dropping through subscribers' letterboxes right now.

 

 

The fifth game in the CoD series, which is being developed by CoD3 studio Treyarch, ditches the number subtitle and expectedly returns to WWII - but the developer stresses it's not the same theatre we've seen a million times before.

 

It all takes place in the Pacific theatre (and partially in Russia's advance into Berlin) says OXM, which all in all was a much grittier and darker conflict that the one in muddy Belgium fields.

 

Treyarch has had a full extra year over CoD3's development to make World at War - and it's using the excellent CoD4 engine, which is plenty of reason to be excited.

 

"This is a scarier Call of Duty than we've ever seen," Treyarch head Mark Lamir says in the mag.

 

To help simulate the Japanese's different style of warfare, Treyarch has completely re-tinkered the enemy AI in World at War. Instead of taking cover and flanking in traditional European battle strategies, the Japanese hide in trees, sneak through the overgrowth and scrabble, katana in hand in violent suicide attacks.

 

"We figured out early that the Imperial Japanese fought in a different way that was full of suspense," creative lead Rich Farrelly tells OXM. "From that point we started to skew the game in that direction."

 

Excitingly, for the first time in Call of Duty's campaign 4-player co-op is supported over Xbox Live - and it supports meta game perks as in CoD4's excellent online mode.

Για να πω την αλήθεια.... εντυπωσιάστικα! Όλα φαίνονται τόσο ωραία! Τώρα το μόνο που πρέπει να ευχηθούμε είναι να μην έχει άφθονα respawns από εχθρούς! Αυτό είναι βασικό (και σπαστικό) χαρακτηριστικό της σειράς Call of Duty. Ας το αλλάξουν επιτέλους!

Gameplay

- Flamethrower have propagating fire (like Far Cry 2). It's design and handling is based on Return to Castle Wolfenstein, they have the lead level designer from that game helping. It melts enemies skin off.

- Can shoot through cover (sounds kinda like BF Bad Company): "with enough bullets, the player causes enough damage to one of the walls to create a hole big enough to walk through"

- You can swim for the first time in the series (both SP and MP). You can not sprint and only walk half-speed while in water.

- Ropes hang dead POWs from trees which you can shoot down.

- Certain vehicles have entire levels dedicated to them, "most notably the PBY Catalina search and rescue plane and a dramatic aerial raid on some Japanese aircraft carriers"

 

Co-op

- 4 player co-op online, or two-player co-op via split screen.

- Identical to SP game

- Includes a "metagame" scoring system - constantly earning points which can be used to unlock special co-op perks. Or you can transfer the points earned over to MP and unlock perks/weapons there instead.

- One scenario demoed involves a player attracting attention of a tank while the other climbs on top and throws a grenade in the hatch.

 

Multiplayer:

- 16 players online

- Vehicles. In MP there are vehicle-specific levels and game types meaning people can ignore them if they want.

- Has COD4's perk system "keeping some of the most relevant and popular ones from COD4" with a selection of new ones too. The perks will be more relevant to the time period, so no UAVs and stuff.

- Party leader can issue orders to the team which will place an indicator on other players HUD saying where they're needed.

 

Development Info:

- Uses CoD4 engine which was enhanced (especially physics wise). Environments are much destructible, it's possible to burn objects or blow them to pieces. Bodies and objects float in water. Impressive lighting.

- Lead platform is Xbox 360 with separate teams handling each port

- Has a two year development schedule which is more than twice as long as CoD3's 11 month schedule.

- Treyarch built a full-sized skeleton of the PBY Catalina (vehicle) in their motion capture studio

- They have a military advisor, Frank Kearsey, helping

- 96 channels of audio many of which are ambient jungle noises. Has "real-time occlusion" which means sound coming from behind a wall or building will sound muffled in comparison to a noise in your direct line of vision.

First trailer of Call of Duty: World at War will be launched on 23rd June

 

We can read at HardGame2, one of the most important Spanish (and european) web of videogames, that Activision announced that the first trailer of Call of Duty: World at War will be launched on 23rd June.

 

In adittion, we can see on HardGame2 the official logo of the game:

Αν και βλέπω κάπως επιφυλακτικά την επιστροφή στο WW2, εντούτοις το αγαπημένο μου της σειράς είναι το 2. Αν τα στάνταρ ποιότητας είναι τα γνωστά, τότε το παιχνίδια θα είναι έπος ανεξαρτήτως setting.

 

Αν και ένα "Future Warfare" θα με πόρωνε περισσότερο πλέον..:Ρ
